From a conversation in 2004 with the licensee of the Kings Arms, Paul James about old pubs and landlords in Stafford, he resurrected an old list of Staffords pubs that he had acquired in the 1960s. It needed an update which initiated visiting libraries and consequently he became fascinated with history.
After 9 years of intensive research he realised that the amount of knowledge gained should not be allowed to disappear and his design engineering background meant that he had an inbuilt belief in attention to detail.
